Our studios are based within the iconic ‘Hatrack’ building at 144 St Vincent Street in the heart of Glasgow’s City Centre, Scotland.
To visit our studio, we kindly ask you to pre-book an appointment. Appointments are available Tuesday - Friday, and selected Saturdays. The studio is closed Sunday/Monday. We can also schedule telephone or Zoom appointments for those unable to visit.

ABOUT US
Brazen is an independent jewellery & goldsmith studio based in Glasgow, Scotland and was founded in 2004 by Director & Designer Sarah Raffel. As a Silversmithing & Jewellery graduate of The Glasgow School of Art, design has always been at the centre of everything she does.
In 2004 Sarah developed and opened the original Brazen Studios concept in Glasgow’s Merchant City as a space to provide a vibrant retail environment and equipped workshop space for independent designer-makers. In 2003 & 2004 Sarah was a recipient of the Deutsche Bank Pyramid Award, Princes Scottish Youth Business Trust and NESTA (National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts) awards. (For their unrelenting support and brazenly candid advice we will be eternally grateful.)
After 10 years operating the retail studios it became ever more important to Sarah that the heart of the business be centred around the bespoke design and creation of jewellery and metalwork; working one-to-one with clients to provide design expertise, crafting diversity and digital enablement which brings concepts to life.
This remains our focus to this day alongside the creation of our in-house Studio Collection. A series of one-off & limited edition pieces available online.
MEET OUR TEAM
SARAH
Design Director & Goldsmith
Drawing has always been the starting point for Sarah ever since she was a child. She trained as a designer and jeweller at The Glasgow School of Art where she graduated in 2003 with 1st class honours. Since opening Brazen Studios in 2004 she continues to develop all designs from client consultation through the visual concept stages, finalising in a traditional set of hand drawn elevations. She will also guide you through picking the right gemstone and the various aesthetic and technical considerations when putting a bespoke piece together. Once the design is confirmed and modelled, she takes the raw precious elements from their unfinished form to their finished glory.
GILLIAN
Commercial Director
As a previous Event Co-ordinator for the House for and Art Lover, Gillian is fully equipped with the skills to steer a project from start to finish and has managed even the most unforeseen circumstances. She has navigated a variety of corporate events and weddings and has a eye for detail and organisation. This has cemented her pragmatic, down to earth nature and as a Mum of two she’s incredibly adept at managing multiple tasks. She is key to keeping the rhythm within the studio and ensures each client project is on track and is responsible for our social media and website. Not only has she a wicked laugh but she is also Sarah’s little sister and knows how to boss her about.
NIK
Diamond & Stone Setter
Nik is a very accomplished diamond setter who in his own words ‘has been setting forever’.
Nik has taken on most types of setting including ‘outer space moon rocks.’ quite literally!
Erik
3D Modelling & CAD Designer
Erik is an extremely talented 3D artist. With nearly 20 years of experience he has extensive training in creating beautiful, technical CAD models and has worked for some of the finest jewellers in his time. Over the years he has garnered a knowledge of not just the process of building 3D models but also the workshop processes that take the piece from digital into reality.
